In July, our own member Marsha Karass will led us through an art project. And we actually created colorful work of art!
Our June speaker was Erich Rose who discussed the wealth of fossils here in Texas and the work of the Paleontological Society of Austin.
Our May speaker was Jacque Austin who shared the adventure of her trip to Galapagos Islands. Her trip included visiting ten islands, snorkling, birding, and being amazed by all she saw.
Our speakers for April were John and Carol Acurso who specialize in nature photography.
John has been a photographer for over 30 years. For his first 12 years, he shot only b/w film, large format and had the opportunity to study with Ansel Adams on several occasions and was to assist him the year he died. He shoots full time.
He also taught photography at the school in the early 90's.
Carol's photographic obsession is with the more “intimate” landscape. Abstract designs in nature, the intricacies of life in miniature, the interaction of a particular lens with the elements of an image – this is how she sees and what she shoots. Carol exhibited her series "Pop Rocks" from the Bastrop wildfires at EAST in 2012.
