activity details.
For July our speaker is Jeff Connally whose topic is
Adventures Along the Appalachian Trail.
The journey from Springer Mt., Georgia to Mt. Katahdin, Maine is 2,175
miles. It’s not flat. Jeff began his adventure as a section-hiker in 2002 and
spends three to four weeks each year hiking north along this extraordinary
path through the wilderness. Hot springs, dry springs, blow-downs, and the
generosity of strangers have all added to the unpredictability of this unique
experience.
ForJune our speaker was Kathy
Boydston from
TPWD will talk about wind power and its effect on wildlife. Since 2003, Kathy has been the representative on wind energy and other related energy issues. She has worked extensively with wind industry on several proposed locations, visited wind farm sites and coordinated with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Texas General Land Office on both onshore and off shore wind farms and the potential impacts on natural resources. She has worked diligently with wind industry to address potential impacts to natural resources in Texas and has developed research projects to address the potential impacts of wind energy on different species across the state.
