Our November meeting included our annual pot-luck and Board elections. Members paid $20 dues for the upcoming year. We exchanged camping gear, outdoor clothing, etc. no longer needed.
Food was good and lots of gabbing was done. Marsha, Susan, and Carolyn were reelected to their posts.
Our October speaker was Bill Brooks who spoke with humor and grace about Central Texas reptiles including alligators, lizards, moles and anoles. Oh, my! He also spoke about tortoises, noting that the Texas Tortoise is protected species and that Box Turtle are poisonous since they eat poisonous mushrooms. He also showed slides of stink pot turtles and red-eared sliders, reminding us all not to eat or put the sliders in your mouth due to possible Salmonella poisoning. A good reminder for us all.
